Birding and Butterfly walks

Based on your interest, we decide the altitude, location etc to spot your desired bird species; shola forests, plantations, deciduous forests, streams, sandal wood forests, bamboo thickets, evergreen forests, grass lands etc. We take utmost care not to disturb the species in any way even if it is a walk during the night to spot the nightjars or owl species. Let it be edemics to migrants, you spot them on our birding trails.

Butterfly walks

Butterflies are some of the most easily noticeable and charismatic invertebrates. Ecotones and the rural landscapes around Muthuvankudi houses shelter some of the most interesting butterfly species, such as India's largest butterfly, the Southern Birdwing and the smallest, the Grass Jewel. Come spot these and many other tiny critters with us on our guided butterfly walks which are sure to enchant you.

Cycling

Experience the cool caress of the breeze on your face as you cycle along the quiet country roads of Muthuvankudi. Set your own pace and take breathers midway to soak in the captivating charms of the spice plantations and picturesque panoramas around.

Imagine a beautiful farm which is peaceful and serene, which makes your mind clear and get rid from the busy schedules of your life. Fresh air, fresh vegetables, sizzling atmosphere....You will be longing to be here as soon as possible. This is what a 'Farm Tourism' will offer you. Indoor activities for those who prefer staying indoors and just relaxing or “chilling out” as you may call it, we have a number of games you can play with friends and family alike. Interactions with local farmers

What is farming in the south Indian hillsides like? Experience it first hand by harvesting local organic produce in our local farmers' fields. Interact with these simple folk to find out more about spices, local farm produce and organic solutions to better farming—such as mixed cropping, crop rotation and the like. Nature trails and plantation walks are part of this activity.

Jeep Safari

Our jeep rides are through the private forest patches and villages  near the resorts, where you get to explore nature at its best and if you are lucky, you may come across some spots and stripes.

Nature trails

Interested clients can opt for guided nature walks, which will take you through small woods with streams trickling by, spice plantations or reserve forests, depending on the client's choice.

Photography Sessions

Photo buff? Book your photography session in advance and our in-house photographers will guide you on nature trails through plantations and villages while giving you theoretical and practical tips on how to the make the most of your camera and capturing art.

Plantation Walk

This two hours walk will  take you through the villages nearby to show them the native plants and herbs. Along with that you can spot many cash crops inside the locals plantations. The local villagers will be be happy to explain the farming process of spices in an organic way.

Spice plantation visits

Walk alongside immaculately tended cardamom plants or through the vibrant green oceans of tea gardens on our plantation visits. Go on guided coffee, pepper or cocoa plantation tours with our local farmer-friends and listen to their stories of harvest and hard work.

Trekking

Kerala, a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It's known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers.

Trekking/Walks

Our Naturalist will take you for a half day/full day trek through the reserve forests/sanctuaries to explore the local flora and fauna in a very responsible way with minimal carbon footprints. He will be explaining about Forests, wildlife, birds, mosses etc etc and you can have some tips on nature photography and spotting birds.

Village walks

Muthuvankudi is a small village, where most households engage in agriculture of some sort. Walk around these little villages, along plantain fields and unexplored paths that will take you across the hamlet to sample the essence of village life.
